The Federal Government has fixed a meeting with organised labour for today to discuss proposals for a new minimum wage, with the potential of setting the demand at N150,000, according to ThisDay.

The meeting, slated to occur at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), will exclusively include government representatives from the Tripartite committee on the new minimum wage.

The primary objective of the meeting is to deliberate and establish the government’s stance on the new minimum wage, which will be presented at the subsequent committee meeting.

The SGF, convening the meeting today, expects the government to thoroughly consider all positions, including those of the governors through the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, to reach a mutually agreeable resolution.

A source within the SGF office hinted that the federal government might contemplate figures ranging from N150,000 to N200,000 as the basis for further negotiations.
