POWER GRID COLLAPSES FOR FOURTH TIME IN 2024

Nigeria’s power grid has collapsed once again, marking the fourth occurrence this year, with current electricity generation plummeting to a mere 0.80 megawatts, according to reports by Daily Trust.

Data from the website of the Independent System Operator (ISO), an autonomous division of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), revealed that power generation started to decrease around 2 PM. It dropped from an average of 3,417.99 MW at 1 PM to 2,797.16 MW by 2 PM.

The decline continued, reaching 1,020.08 MW by 3 PM, and then precipitously falling to just 0.80 MW by 4 PM. This minimal generation was solely from the Trans-Amadi Power Plant.
