Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has asked individuals innocently arrested during the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raid on nightclubs in Akure, the state capital to seek redress.

During a meeting with nightclub owners on Sunday night at the Government House in Alagbaka, Akure, Aiyedatiwa addressed the aftermath of the raid that occurred in the early hours of Saturday.

The club and hotel owners recounted how their facilities were vandalized by EFCC officers while arresting suspected internet fraudsters.

The EFCC, in its defense, claimed its operatives acted on intelligence reports, targeting 127 individuals allegedly involved in ‘Yahoo Parties’ and others under investigation.

Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed sympathy for the damages and revenue losses incurred by the affected businesses.

He urged the owners to document the destruction and present their cases to the relevant authorities.

Acknowledging the EFCC’s mandate to act on credible intelligence, the Governor emphasized that innocent individuals should seek redress while those with cases to answer should defend themselves.

He assured the club owners of his ongoing communication with top security agencies to gather credible reports on the incident and promised to intervene as necessary.

The club owners, appreciating the Governor’s timely meeting, distanced themselves from any protest plans.
