Labour leaders have gathered at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for a pivotal closed-door meeting with government officials, Punch Newspaper reported

“We are currently in a closed-door meeting with government representatives at the SGF office. The labour leaders are seated, awaiting the arrival of the government delegation,” the source disclosed.

According to Punch, the identities of the government representatives attending the meeting were not disclosed as of the time of filing this report.

Several unions have complied with the directive of the two major labour unions to embark on an indefinite nationwide strike.

Organised labour had announced on Friday that they would commence a nationwide indefinite strike due to the Federal Government’s refusal to increase the proposed minimum wage from N60,000.

NLC President Joe Ajaero, in a joint statement with TUC counterpart Festus Osifo, expressed disappointment over the Federal Government’s failure to finalize and pass a new National Minimum Wage Act into law.
