The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has directed security personnel to arrest the 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, for attempting to retake the Emir palace after being banished.

The Governor’s directive was confirmed by his spokesman, Mr. Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

The Kano State Assembly approved a bill on Thursday to repeal the Emirate Council law, which had previously resulted in the installation of five monarchs in the state.

The abolition of the law has resulted in the reinstatement of Muhammad Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.

Sources informed “The News Eyes Daily” that the deposed Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, who had left the state on Thursday, returned to Kano early this morning around 4:30 am.

It was alleged that the deposed monarch is receiving support from some powerful federal government officials in Abuja.

Sources revealed that upon his return, Aminu Ado Bayero was welcomed by his supporters at the Aminu Kano International Airport.

It was learnt that both Sanusi and the Governor had earlier gotten a security report that Bayero was on his way to Kano State after the forces who are backing him had allegedly provided him with enough security to take over the palace.

Following this development, Sanusi, who was accompanied by the State Governor, quickly rushed to the Palace around 2 am to prevent Bayero from gaining access to the place.

“This morning, the deposed Emir returned to Kano and was greeted by some of his supporters at the Aminu Kano International Airport around 4.30 a.m.

“When you see the number of security personnel assigned to him, you will realise that only the federal government can provide such protection to him.

“There are reports that he attempted to take over the palace, but the reinstated monarch, Sanusi, had already moved into the palace around 2a.m,” a source said.

However, the deposed Emir later relocated to the Nasarawa Second Emirate Palace in Kano State, where he still resides.
