The Ondo State High Court in Akure has sentenced a 17-year-old boy, Jibola Fakologbon, to 14 years in prison for assaulting and raping a female student.
Justice Yemi Fasanmi delivered the verdict, convicting Jibola of the crime.
The court ruled that the prosecution had proven its case of indecent assault and rape against the convict beyond a reasonable doubt.
Jibola was charged with two counts of assault and rape in December 2021 and pleaded not guilty.
The prosecuting counsel, D. Kayode, informed the court that on March 11, around 5 p.m., at Ero via Igbara-Oke, the convict indecently assaulted a lady (name withheld), a student at Ero College of Education.
Kayode stated that at the same location and time, the convict was also accused of raping the victim.
