UK GOVT TO PROHIBIT GENDER IDENTITY EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN UNDER NINE

The United Kingdom (UK) government has announced plans to ban gender identity education for children under the age of nine.

The move comes amid growing concerns from some parents and conservative groups about the impact of such education on young children.

The proposals, due to be published today would prevent schools from teaching children under nine about gender identity or transgender issues.

This includes topics such as gender reassignment and non-binary gender identities.

Education Secretary, Gillian Keegan defended the decision, stating that the government believes that such sensitive topics should be discussed at an age-appropriate level.

“Children under nine are not emotionally or developmentally ready to understand these complex issues,” Keegan said.

However, the move has sparked backlash from LGBTQ+ rights groups and some education professionals, who argue that education about gender identity is crucial for promoting inclusivity and understanding from a young age.
