Despite reports of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim’s suspension from the All Progressives Congress (APC) by his Igbotako Ward II executives yesterday, “News Eyes Daily” has learnt that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has allegedly sent some respected party leaders to appeal to the senator to withdraw his case at the Abuja federal high court.

Ibrahim, one of the 16 governorship aspirants in the controversial APC April 20 primary election, which saw Aiyedatiwa emerge as the party’s flagbearer for November 16, has taken legal action.

He has approached the federal high court in Abuja to challenge the election’s outcome. He seeks to prevent Aiyedatiwa from representing the party and requests that the APC conduct a fresh primary election.

Some prominent APC leaders in Abuja are reportedly pressuring the senator representing Ondo South in the National Assembly to allow for genuine reconciliation instead of pursuing a legal battle.

“News Eyes Daily” gathered from sources in the senator’s camp that he is not backing down and is ready to pursue the matter to the Supreme Court.

Although the PDP ruled for 16 years, it has never won Zamfara State since 1999. Notably, we lost it in 2019 due to a crisis similar to the one in Ondo State.

“The APC urges the aggrieved aspirants to see the primary election as a family affair and not let the opposition benefit from our crisis.”

An unconfirmed report revealed that President Bola Ahmed allegedly spoke with Senator Jimoh Ibrahim about the primary election.

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim confirmed on a “WHATSAPP GROUP PLATFORM” that some party leaders visited his home in Abuja yesterday to ask him to withdraw the case from court.

According to his WhatsApp chat, those who visited him included the party’s state chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, the Executive Director of Corporate Services of NDDC, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde a.k.a Abena, the Ondo State Chairman of SUBEB, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, and former Commissioner for Education, Pastor Femi Agagu.

According to him, “Femi Agagu, Olabimtan, Adetimehin, and Abena left my house at 11 p.m. yesterday after begging for five hours. I told them to return in peace and allow the case to go to the Supreme Court in peace.

“If I do not win, it is fine with me; if I win, it is no problem. Nothing is personal. I just want to hear from the Supreme Court on some points of law on internal democracy. No more”.
