Vice-President Kashim Shettima, who was slated to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit in Dallas, Texas, has canceled his trip due to a technical issue with his aircraft.

The Summit, organized by the Corporate Council on Africa, will see Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, standing in for the President.

This change comes after Shettima’s aircraft experienced a technical fault, prompting a detour advised by the Presidential Air Fleet.

Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of The Vice-President, confirmed this development in a statement released in Abuja on Monday.

Despite the change in plans, the Vice President will continue with his other national duties.

The high-profile summit, set to take place at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, will bring together political and business leaders from Africa, the United States, and beyond.

Among the African leaders expected to attend are President Joseph Boakai of Liberia, President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi, and President Joao Lourenço of Angola, among others.

The US-Africa Business Summit aims to enhance economic cooperation and explore investment opportunities between the United States and African countries.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had a similar experience a few weeks ago.

It may be remembered that ‘The News Eyes Daily’ disclosed that Tinubu had to opt for a chartered plane to Saudi Arabia after his trip to the Netherlands, as his presidential jet had encountered a mechanical problem.
