Alhaji Abass Mimiko, the younger brother of former Ondo State Governor Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has been officially named as the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidate for the state’s governorship election on November 16.

The decision was made during the party’s primary election, which was held at its secretariat in Akure, the state capital.

Mimiko pledged to prioritise education, healthcare, the economy, and security if elected as Ondo State’s next governor.

According to him, “we are forced to be reckoned with in this election.” We will ensure food security; within a year of taking office, Ondo State will have a surplus of food; we will provide affordable quality education, industrialization, housing, and free health care to all residents as part of our programmes.”

Abbas confirmed that, despite their differing political views, his brother, former Governor Mimiko, fully supported his bid to become the state’s next governor.

Mimiko stated, “My brother has no doubt that if I become governor of the state, everyone will benefit. “I am coming out because he knows I will build on his achievements,” he stated.
