Following the conclusion of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Ondo State, the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has scheduled a meeting with the 16 aspirants for Thursday at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa won the primary election, as declared by the Chairman of the Election Committee and Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo.

Aiyedatiwa secured 48,567 votes, defeating the other 15 aspirants.

However, a number of aspirants have challenged the results, claiming that there was no election in any of the 203 wards.

They alleged that Ododo’s committee members simply fabricated the figures from their hotel rooms.

Already, three of the aggrieved aspirants, Wale Akinterinwa, Hon Jimi Odimayo, and Hon Gbenga Edema, have filed a petition with the Party Appeal committee, chaired by the former Governor of Bauchi State, Abubakar Muhammed.

They are requesting that the party cancel the Saturday poll and hold a new election.

According to an Abuja-based party source, the purpose of Thursday’s meeting with Ganduje is to persuade the aggrieved aspirants to accept the results of Saturday’s election and avoid legal action.

The SMS message sent to the aspirants reads “The National chairman of the All progressives Congress, APC )Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje  send you greetings and well wishes especially at this trying period .
