Raids IPOB/ESN Training Camp in Abia

The Nigerian Army, in conjunction with other security agencies, has successfully cleared out bandit and criminal hideouts in forests across two local government areas in Ondo State.

A press statement posted on its X handle, @HQNigerianArmy, revealed that the operations took place in forests around Irele Local Government Area and Igbobini and Segbemi Kiribo in Ese-Odo Local Government Area.

The military stated, “During the clearance operations, the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 rifle magazine, five locally fabricated single-barrel guns, and one locally made pistol. Other items recovered from the bandits include 18 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition and 24 live cartridges.”

In a separate operation, the Nigerian Army disclosed that it conducted a raid on a training camp of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), located in Ihechiowa community of Arochukwu Local Government Area in Abia State.

It added that the operation, carried out yesterday in conjunction with a Task Force Tactical Patrol Squad, saw troops successfully infiltrate and dismantle the camp, destroying all training apparatus and facilities found on-site.

The Nigerian Military said “the raid marks a critical move in the ongoing efforts to curb acts of terrorism by IPOB and ESN, which have been linked to various security challenges and violence unleashed on innocent citizens as well as security operatives in the state,” the military noted.

“In addition to the destruction of the training camp, the troops also targeted buildings used as hideouts for key ESN Commanders. The operation was executed with precision and yielded significant intelligence.

“The raid operation followed the heightened terrorist activities of IPOB/ESN, targeting law-abiding citizens and government agencies in Abia State and other parts of Southeastern Nigeria.”

MAN GETS 4+ YEARS FOR RAPE AFTER REMOVING CONDOM WITHOUT CONSENT

Guy Mukendi, 39, from Brixton, was sentenced to over four years in prison for rape after removing his condom during sex without the woman’s knowledge, in a landmark legal case.

The woman had only consented to sex on the condition that Mukendi used a condom. Non-consensual condom removal, known as ‘stealthing,’ is classified as rape under English law, although prosecutions are rare due to underreporting.

The incident was reported to the Metropolitan Police on May 9, 2023. The woman had text message evidence where Mukendi apologized for removing the condom, claiming he did so because he had not had sex in a long time. She took screenshots before he deleted the messages.

Mukendi denied the charges but was convicted and sentenced at Inner London Crown Court to four years and three months in prison.

Detective Constable Jack Earl, who led the investigation, stated, “Throughout this investigation, Mukendi denied any wrongdoing – but our officers built a compelling case against him to leave no doubt in the jury’s mind. We were dedicated to securing justice for the victim and will continue to raise awareness that this crime is a form of rape. The victim did the right thing to call the police straight away and her bravery should not be overshadowed.”

Kate Holmes, Head of Sexual Violence Helplines at Survivors Gateway, added, “Survivors of sexual violence in London can contact the Survivor’s Gateway on 0808 801 0860 for support. Our Navigators provide a confidential, non-judgmental space and can make referrals for counseling as well as practical advocacy support.

TRUMP MAKES HISTORY AS FIRST FORMER U.S. PRESIDENT CONVICTED OF FELONIES

Former United States of America President Donald Trump has been found guilty in his historic criminal trial, making him a felon.

The verdict was delivered by a jury consisting of seven men and five women at a New York courtroom, where Trump faced 34 felony charges, all of which he was found guilty of.

Trump has been dragged to the court over allegations of falsifying business records to influence the outcome of the 2016 election.

This makes him the first former American President to be convicted of a crime, potentially hindering his participation in the upcoming November election, where he is the Presidential candidate of the Republican Party.

Daily Mail reported that each of the charges Trump faced carried a maximum potential sentence of up to four years in prison.

The jury had the option of convicting him of all counts, acquitting him of all counts, or delivering a mixed verdict where he was found guilty of some charges and not others.

Following the verdict, Trump addressed the media outside the court, denouncing the trial as a “disgrace” and a “rigged decision.”

He claimed the trial was politically motivated by the Biden administration to harm his candidacy, asserting his innocence and stating he was fighting for the country and the Constitution.

He criticized the judge as conflicted and suggested the real verdict would come from the people in the November election.
